Bricelyn Fourth of July Celebration

Bricelyn's 54th Annual

Independence Day Celebration

The City's 2011 4th of July Celebration will be held from Friday night July 1st through Sunday, July 3rd.

Friday, July 1st

7pm--Variety Show with Pie & Ice cream social following at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church

8:30-11:30pm--Free late night teen swim (7th grade and up)

8:30pm-12:30am--Dance at the Bricelyn Legion "Walking Eagle Band"

Saturday, July 2nd

8am--Chicken run-5K run/1 mile kids' run/1 mile fitness walk (Northeast of School)

9am--Women's coed volleyball tournaments

9am-12pm--registration for car show-call Dennis Johnson at 507-525-2048

9am-12pm--Climbing wall and zip line open at Prairie River Camp

Call Renae to register 507-327-7047

9:30am--Youth wrestling weigh in $12 (preK-6th grade)

11am--Wrestling matches start

1pm--Parade

Horse show after parade--Dr. Jack Peterson's Arena

1pm-4pm--Car Show

1:30-8:30pm--Pool open

3:30pm--Pool games for children

1:30pm--Petting Zoo and other items in the Park (Bingo, Mini golf, Minnow races, along

with other games)

2:30pm--Music in the Park

4pm-till gone--Chicken Barbecue-serving large one-quarter chicken, homemade

potato salad, beans, bread, beverage, dessert. (take-outs available)

Fireworks at Dusk

Sunday, July 3rd

7:30-11am--Firemen's Pancake Breakfast at the Bricelyn Legion

9am--Worship in the Park-in event of bad weather, service will be at the Bricelyn

Lutheran Church.

Other Events throughout the weekend

Rendezvous "Back in Time 1640-1840 Fur Trading Days"

Bricelyn Museum-open Saturday 10am-12pm and 2-4pm; & Sunday 10am-12pm

Little Red School House-open Saturday 10am-12pm and 2-4pm; & Sunday 10am-12pm

$200 Medallion Hunt-Will be throughout the celebration until found (Clues posted at Bud's Cafe and the park shelter.)

Bricelyn Pool

New items for the 2011 year are in store. Do to the wonderful fundraising efforts last year, some new items will be seen at the pool this year. We have recently received a grant from the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. With this money, new lifeguard chairs have been purchased. Also permanent cement steps will be installed for easier access to the pool, along with updating other safety issues to make the pool more enjoyable.

The "Property of the Bricelyn Swimming Pool" t-shirts and sweatshirts have been a big success. They have proven to be a wanted item and are still available. They can be viewed at the State Bank of Bricelyn, the Bricelyn Legion, and the Bricelyn City Office. The City encourages people to contact Kathy during City Office hours, or call 507-653-4367 to place a special request, or look through the selection on hand. This year tank tops will also be added to the list of items for sale.

Shirts will be available to purchase on Saturday, July 2nd in the Park during the 4th of July celebration.

A poster is displayed at the pool to show our progress toward our goal of $150,000.00.
